A new bridge that connects the progressive cities of Mandaluyong and Makati crossing the Pasig River was formally opened to the public on February 11, 2011.

Vice President Jejomar Binay, Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Rogelio L. Singson, Austrian Ambassador to the Philippines Wilhelm Donko, Makati City Mayor Junjun Binay and Mandaluyong City Mayor Benhur Abalos led the ceremonial drive and ribbon cutting at the newly constructed Estrella‐Pantaleon
Bridge.

The 676‐lineal meter concrete and modular steel bridge, which was constructed at a cost of P303.655 million, will serve as additional access to Makati and Mandaluyong and vice‐versa, relieving congestion in Guadalupe and the Makati‐Mandaluyong Bridges.

Secretary Singson said that the opening of this bridge will further promote economic and social development in these two highly‐commercialized cities in Metro Manila. Construction of the eight‐span bridge (wherein the Austrian Government through Waagner‐Biro supplied the three modular steel component) was implemented by the DPWH National Capital Region under the leadership of Regional Director Reynaldo Tagudando.

To ensure safety, lampposts were installed on the bridge proper and along the 231‐lineal meter Mandaluyong side approach and 243‐lineal meter Makati side approach.

Through the new Estrella‐Pantaleon Bridge, it takes about 5 minutes to reach Mandaluyong and arrive at Century Properties’ newest masterplanned development, Acqua Private Residences.
